Amusement Park Ride Collapses, Injuring 23 in Saudi Arabia A horrifying incident at Green Mountain Park resort in Taif, Saudi Arabia, has left 23 people injured, three critically, when a popular amusement park ride snapped in mid-air and crashed to the ground.
The ‘360 Big Pendulum’ ride was in operation when it suddenly broke apart, sending riders plummeting to the ground amidst twisted metal.
Video footage captured the moment of the accident, showing the ride spinning and swinging before a loud snap was heard, and the platform came crashing down.
According to eyewitnesses, all riders remained strapped into their seats during the incident.
The incident is currently under investigation by local authorities, who are working to determine the cause of the collapse.
Saudi state media reports that three people sustained critical injuries in the incident.
As a result, regional governor Prince Saud bin Nahar bin Saud bin Abdulaziz has ordered the immediate closure of the resort pending further investigation.
This incident bears a resemblance to a similar accident earlier this year in Indonesia, where a 13-year-old boy suffered multiple fractures after falling from a similar 360 ride.
