BORDERTOWN, AUSTRALIA – A mother of six was tragically killed by her partner in a domestic murder-suicide incident, leaving the small Australian town of Bordertown in shock.
Investigation Reveals Previous Domestic Violence Incident Police discovered the bodies of 41-year-old Shafeeqa Husseini and her 47-year-old husband, Mirza, inside their Melvyn St home during a welfare check over the weekend.
Authorities confirmed that Mirza Husseini murdered his wife before taking his own life.
The couple’s six children were not present at the time of the incident.
Acting Assistant Commissioner Cath Hilliard stated that the police were aware of a previous domestic violence incident involving the couple, which occurred earlier in the year.
However, there were no current court-imposed restrictions in place to prevent contact between the couple at the time of the incident.
Community in Mourning The family, who moved to Australia from Afghanistan about 15 years ago, was well-known in the community.
Neighbors described the family as being close-knit, with some adult children attending university.
Bordertown Islamic Community Centre manager Adeel Khan remembered Shafeeqa as a “good lady” who loved to help with community events, particularly with her cooking.
The community is devastated by the news, with residents expressing shock and sadness at the loss of the family.
“It’s really sad news… whatever has happened is not good, it’s a massive shock,” said Khan.
Authorities Urge Public to Seek Help In the wake of this tragedy, authorities are urging anyone affected by family violence to seek help.
If you or someone you know is in danger, please call the police or a trusted support service.
