SYDNEY – Rainy Weekend Forecast for Eastern Australia A new wave of rain is predicted to hit eastern Australia, just a week after severe flooding affected parts of New South Wales.
Sydney is expected to receive up to 30mm of rain over the weekend, which may impact the City2Surf race on Sunday.
The rain is predicted to be less intense than last weekend, when over 100mm of rain fell on parts of the state’s Hunter Valley, resulting in one reported fatality.
The latest forecast also warns of heavy rainfall in parts of Queensland, particularly between Hervey Bay and Rockhampton.
The rain is being caused by a northwest cloudband, which combines warm and humid tropical air from the Indian Ocean with moisture from the Coral Sea.
This weather pattern is expected to bring cooler temperatures to areas away from the coast.
Victoria, however, is not expected to experience significant rainfall until next Tuesday.
Authorities have advised residents to be prepared for the incoming rain and potential flooding.
The public is urged to stay informed about the latest weather updates and exercise caution during heavy rainfall.
For more information, residents can contact their local weather service or visit the website of the Australian Bureau of Meteorology.
