The boxing world mourns the loss of Shigetoski Kotari, a 28-year-old Japanese boxer who succumbed to injuries sustained during a title fight on August 2nd.
The World Boxing Organization (WBO) announced Kotari’s passing on Friday, August 8th.
Kotari lost consciousness during the bout against Yamato Hata in Tokyo and was rushed to a hospital, where he was diagnosed with acute subdural hematoma.
He underwent an emergency craniotomy and was under observation following the procedure, according to the Japanese Boxing Commission (JBC).
