Fatal Crash Claims Life of Elderly Woman in Goonellabah
An 82-year-old woman has died following a two-vehicle collision on the Bruxner Highway in Goonellabah, in the state’s north, on Friday evening.
Police have commenced an investigation into the crash, which involved the woman’s sedan and a semi-trailer.
Emergency services were called to the scene at approximately 6 pm on Friday, August 8, after receiving reports of the crash.
Officers from the Richmond Police District arrived to find a Toyota sedan and a semi-trailer had collided.
NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the elderly driver, but she was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigation Commenced
The driver of the semi-trailer, a 58-year-old man, was not physically injured in the collision. He was transported to Lismore Hospital for mandatory testing, as is standard procedure.
A crime scene has been established, and authorities have begun inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the fatal crash. A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
