Body Found on M1 Pacific Motorway Near Byron Bay, Investigation Underway
A probe is ongoing after the discovery of a male body on the M1 Pacific Motorway in the state’s north, following a multiple-vehicle collision involving an unoccupied motorcycle.
Emergency services responded to the incident at approximately 7:15 pm on Sunday, 10 August 2025, near Billinudgel.
Upon arrival, police were notified that three vehicles had crashed into the motorcycle, and a member of the public subsequently found the body of the alleged male rider nearby.
Investigation and Forensics
The body has not yet been formally identified.
Two drivers were taken to Byron Bay Hospital for mandatory testing, while another driver was transported to Tweed Valley Hospital for the same purpose.
A crime scene has been established, and the Crash Investigation Unit has commenced an investigation into the incident.
All vehicles involved have been seized for forensic examination.
A report will be prepared for the Coroner’s information.
