Husband’s Sports Bet Distracted Him as Toddler Drowned, Police Report Reveals
On May 12, Emilie Kiser was out with friends, leaving her husband in charge of their three-year-old son Trigg and newborn baby Theodore.
However, instead of keeping a watchful eye on the children, Brady Kiser allegedly placed a bet with DraftKings, which he won, earning $102.50.
Phone records confirmed the transaction.
Delayed Response and Lack of Pool Safety Measures
Security footage showed Trigg was left unattended outside for over nine minutes, with seven of those minutes spent in the pool.
Brady Kiser claimed to have lost sight of his son for only three to five minutes, but the video evidence contradicts this statement.
The family’s pool safety net, a Katchakid, was not in place at the time of the incident, reportedly having been removed for swimming and never replaced.
No Charges Filed Despite Recommendations
Investigations concluded that Brady Kiser’s statements did not match the video footage, suggesting he was not aware of his son’s activities and was not supervising him.
Despite detectives recommending a class 4 felony child abuse charge for criminal negligence, the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office declined to prosecute, citing “no likelihood of conviction.”
Public Records Requests and Controversy
The police report was released following a court order to remove two pages at Emilie Kiser’s request, who argued that the details could be misused online.
Over 100 public records requests have been filed in connection with the case, sparking controversy and debate.
