Father of Three Dies at Home After Pacemaker Fails
A 36-year-old father of three died at his home in Melbourne’s south-east suburbs on August 4 after his pacemaker, which he had been fitted with nearly two decades ago, failed.
Shaun Skinner was taking care of his two youngest daughters at the time of the incident.
Skinner’s fiancée, Ashlee Tyrrell, received a call from him around 1 pm, alerting her to his situation.
She rushed home from work, but by the time she arrived, Skinner had lost consciousness.
Despite efforts by paramedics to resuscitate him, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Background
Skinner was diagnosed with a heart condition at the age of 17 and had been fitted with a pacemaker.
He had been seeing his specialist every year and had experienced no major issues until the fatal incident.
The couple had been together for 14 years and were planning to get married in 2026.
Final Moments
Ashlee Tyrrell described her fiancé’s final moments, saying that he had waited until their daughters were being cared for by her father before losing consciousness.
“He lost consciousness when he knew his girls were taken care of.
He waited and then he never regained consciousness again,” she said.
Support for the Family
A GoFundMe page has been set up to support the grieving family, with over $38,000 raised so far.
Friends and family have rallied around Ashlee and the children, offering emotional and financial support during this difficult time.
Ashlee described Shaun as “the best dad in the world” who “loved to make people happy.”
She is now focused on caring for their three daughters, ensuring they receive the support they need during this tragic time.
