South Australian Police Seek Public’s Help in 25-Year-Old Cold Case Murder Investigation
In a renewed effort to solve the murder of Rosemary Brown and the suspected murder of her 15-year-old daughter Melissa Trussell, South Australian police have released images of two vehicles of interest and are appealing to the public for information.
The investigation into the 25-year-old cold case has led police to identify a blue coloured Ford XD Falcon sedan and a fawn-coloured Holden VB Commodore sedan as vehicles of interest.
The pair were last seen alive on May 13, 2000, in Blair Athol, Adelaide.
Ms Brown’s body was found seven weeks later, but Melissa’s body has never been recovered.
Vehicle Sightings
A member of the public reported seeing the blue Ford XD Falcon sedan in the Osborne area in the days following the disappearance of Ms Brown and Ms Trussell.
The fawn-coloured Holden VB Commodore sedan, with a distinctive brown trim, is also being investigated for its possible role in the crime.
Police Appeal for Information
Major Crime Investigation Branch officer-in-charge Detective Superintendent Darren Fielke has urged anyone with information about the crime or the vehicles to contact police.
He believes that more than one person was involved in the “horrific crime” and is appealing to the public to come forward with information.
Rewards of up to $1 million for information leading to the conviction of those responsible for Melissa’s suspected murder and up to $200,000 for information leading to the conviction of those involved in Ms Brown’s murder are on offer.
Police are hoping that the renewed appeal and the release of the vehicle images will lead to a breakthrough in the case and bring closure to the family of the victims.
