Australian Influencer Abbie Chatfield Slams ‘Australia First’ Protest as Racist and Xenophobic
Influencer Abbie Chatfield has taken to social media to condemn the upcoming ‘Australia First’ national protest, set to take place on August 31.
The rallies, organised by a self-described ‘grassroots’ coalition of ‘nationalists, patriots, and everyday Australians’, aim to demand an end to ‘mass immigration’.
Chatfield, 30, characterised the protests as ‘racist’ and ‘xenophobic’, stating that the majority of Australians do not agree with the sentiments expressed.
In a six-minute video on TikTok, she urged her followers to condemn the protests, labelling those who attend as ‘losers’ and ‘freaks’.
Protest Organisers Claim Rally is About Cost of Living
Organisers of the protest claim that the rally is focused on the rising cost of living in Australia.
However, Chatfield argues that this is a smokescreen for xenophobic and racist attitudes.
She claimed that the protestors are blaming immigrants for the country’s economic woes, rather than addressing the complex economic and political strategies that underlie the issue.
