Courtney Gartshore Charged with Culpable Homicide of Three-Month-Old Baby Girl
A 27-year-old woman from Aberdeen has pleaded not guilty to the culpable homicide of her three-month-old daughter, Dahlia Rose.
At a hearing in the High Court in Glasgow on Thursday, prosecutors alleged that Courtney Gartshore caused the infant’s death in September 2023 by subjecting her to sustained heat from a hairdryer.
The charge of culpable homicide alleges that Ms. Gartshore, while under the influence of alcohol and drugs, applied heat to the baby’s head and body, causing fatal injuries.
She faces separate charges of wilfully neglecting Dahlia Rose and another child, with court documents alleging she kept the children in unsanitary conditions and co-slept with the infant while intoxicated.
She is also accused of possessing cocaine and mephedrone.
Trial Scheduled for July 2026
During the procedural hearing on Thursday, Ms. Gartshore’s lawyer, Murray Macara KC, entered a not guilty plea on her behalf.
Ms. Gartshore, who is also known as Courtney McCready, was not required to attend the hearing. The judge, Lord Mulholland, scheduled a 10-day trial to begin in July 2026 at the High Court in Aberdeen.
