Reality TV star and Providence, Rhode Island, municipal judge Frank Caprio has passed away at the age of 88, following a long and courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.
Judge Caprio, known for his compassion and humility, was the star of the reality show ‘Caught in Providence’, which ran from 2018 to 2020 and received multiple Daytime Emmy Award nominations.
He gained a massive online following, with over three million followers on Instagram and 1.6 million on TikTok, earning him the title of “Nicest Judge in the World”.

According to a statement posted on his Instagram account, Judge Caprio died “peacefully” on August 20, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and compassion.
The statement described him as a “devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend” who touched the lives of millions through his work in the courtroom and beyond.

Dan McKee of Rhode Island paid tribute to the late judge, calling him a “Rhode Island treasure” who faced his illness with bravery.
The governor also ordered flags in Rhode Island to be flown at half-mast in honor of Judge Caprio.
In a video posted to his Instagram on August 19, Judge Caprio addressed his followers from a hospital bed, thanking them for their prayers and asking for their continued support during his final days.
