New Hampshire Tragedy: Mother Kills Family, Then Herself, in Apparent Murder-Suicide
In a shocking incident that has left a community reeling, a mother in New Hampshire allegedly shot and killed her husband and two of their three children before taking her own life, authorities have confirmed.
The bodies of Emily Long, 34, her husband Ryan, and their two children, Parker, 8, and Ryan, 6, were found at their home in Madbury, New Hampshire, on Monday evening.
The couple’s three-year-old son was discovered unharmed at the scene.
Struggles with Terminal Illness and Career
According to friends and family, Emily had been struggling to cope with her husband’s terminal brain cancer diagnosis and her own dissatisfaction with her job.
She had recently quit her job at a chicken wings chain, citing unhappiness with her career.
A family friend described Emily’s situation, saying, “She was unhappy with her career and they were struggling with money and at risk of losing their house.
Emily had a network of friends around her who knew what she was going through, but even they were shocked and caught off guard by the tragic events.”
Investigation Ongoing
The police are still investigating the circumstances surrounding the shootings.
Assistant Attorney General Ben Agati cautioned against speculation, stating, “Homicide and suicide is usually much, much more complex than just one reason.
There’s still more information we’re trying to gather to narrow down different things.”
The community is left to mourn the loss of the “beautiful” family, with friends and family paying tribute to Ryan and Emily, describing them as “incredible people and parents.”
