Robin Wright, the talented actress known for her iconic role as Claire Underwood in ‘House of Cards’, has had enough of the United States. In a shocking interview with The Sunday Times, Wright revealed she’s been living in England for the past few years and is now planning to leave the US behind for good.
The 59-year-old actress didn’t mince words, calling America a “sh**show” and citing the decline in traditional American life as her reason for leaving. “I love being in this country,” she said, referring to England. “There’s a freedom of self here. People are so kind. They’re living. They’re not in the car in traffic, panicked on a phone call, eating a sandwich. That’s most of America. Everything’s rush, competition and speed.”
Wright, who has spent her career in Hollywood directing, producing, and starring in numerous acclaimed projects, is not alone in her decision to leave the US. Several other celebrities, including Ellen DeGeneres and Rosie O’Donnell, have also made the move to England and Ireland, respectively. Joe Pantoliano and Eva Longoria are reportedly considering similar moves.
Wright’s decision to leave the US is not just about politics, but about finding a simpler way of life. She met her new partner, British architect Henry Smith, at a countryside pub, and the two are now planning to move to the English seaside with their dogs. “I’ve met my person,” Wright gushed. “Finally.”
In a heartfelt admission, Wright revealed that she’s finally found someone who loves and accepts her for who she is. “I’m seen and loved for who I am,” she said. “It’s so relaxing.”
Wright is currently starring in the psychological thriller series ‘The Girlfriend’ for Prime Video, which she also directed. The actress is looking forward to taking time off soon to focus on her new life in England with Smith.
“It’s liberating to be done,” she said. “Be done with searching, looking and getting 60 percent of what you wanted.”
It seems Wright has found her happy ending in the English countryside, and we couldn’t be more thrilled for her!
