Bindi Irwin has dropped a bombshell on her fans, announcing that she’s packed up her family and made a shock move to Los Angeles. But it’s not for the reason you might think – the Wildlife Warrior has relocated to the City of Angels to support her brother Robert as he prepares to compete on Dancing With The Stars!
In a video posted to Instagram and Facebook, Bindi revealed that she’s temporarily leaving behind her life at Australia Zoo to cheer on her little brother from the audience. “We have officially moved to Los Angeles,” she said, beaming with excitement. “Not forever, but for the next three months. Australia Zoo will always be home, but we are here to support my incredible brother on Dancing With The Stars!”
Bindi, who won the American version of the show nearly a decade ago with partner Derek Hough, said she couldn’t wait to relive the experience from the audience. “It was about 10 years ago that I competed on the show, and I actually won with my amazing partner Derek!” she said. “It was a life-changing experience… And now my little brother’s going to be on the show! Except, he’s not so little anymore,” she giggled.
The mum-of-one admitted that her daughter Grace Warrior, four, had already picked out her outfits for the ballroom audience. “If you’re wondering who will be cheering the loudest in the audience – it will definitely be me and Grace,” Bindi wrote in her caption. “She has already chosen all her dresses to wear in the ballroom audience each week. #DWTS”
Famous friends and fans flooded the comments with messages of support, including Bindi and Robert’s mum Terri Irwin, who promised to tune in from September 16. Robert’s I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! co-host Julia Morris added: “We are soooooo excited!”, while TV personality Reggie Bird encouraged: “Dance your heart out boy. And @bindisueirwin go you support sister.”
Meanwhile, Robert has shared behind-the-scenes footage of himself rehearsing in the dance studio, joking that his “mirrorball champ sister” was watching him from afar. In another touching moment, Robert visited his late father Steve Irwin’s star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, writing: “This is so special.” Bindi was quick to respond: “I know Dad is SO proud of you”, a message that has since racked up more than 8000 likes.
