GRIM DISCOVERY OFF NSW COAST: Scuba Divers Stumble Upon Lifeless Body of Missing Fisherman Amidst Fears of Foul Play

Tragedy has struck off the south coast of NSW, where a group of scuba divers made a gruesome discovery on Friday morning. The divers, who were exploring the waters off Bass Point at Shellharbour, stumbled upon the lifeless body of a man underwater.
The remains are believed to be those of a 45-year-old fisherman, who had set out from Shellharbour Marina on a fishing boat the previous day. The man had last contacted authorities around 11pm on Thursday, informing them that he would return to shore by 11am on Friday.
However, in a shocking turn of events, the man’s body was found by the local divers around 11.30am on Friday, just half an hour before he was expected to return to shore. Fishing gear from the man’s boat was also found washed up on the beach.
A massive multi-agency search operation was launched to recover the remains, involving NSW Police, Surf Life Saving NSW, Marine Rescue NSW, and a Westpac helicopter. The body was eventually pulled from the water by police divers near a sunken vessel off Bass Point around 6pm on Friday.
While the body is yet to be formally identified, a report will be prepared for the Coroner. The circumstances surrounding the man’s death are still unclear, and an investigation is underway to determine the cause.
