A devastating murder investigation has been launched in Adelaide after the body of 49-year-old Chris Robertson was found at a Lonsdale workshop on Tuesday. The father-of-two’s brutal death has sent shockwaves through the community, with police working tirelessly to piece together the events leading up to his tragic demise.
According to Major Crime Investigation Branch officer-in-charge Detective Superintendent Darren Fielke, Mr Robertson’s body was discovered in an open shed area at the workshop on O’Sullivan’s Beach Road. A person who frequents the premises raised the alarm, prompting police to launch a major investigation.
“We now know that Chris was murdered,” Detective Superintendent Fielke said in a statement. “Chris was inside the premises… A person who frequents these premises did find him, raise the alarm and police were called.”
Police believe Mr Robertson died from injuries sustained during an assault, with a post-mortem examination revealing the extent of his horrific injuries. The investigation is still in its early days, but police are urging anyone with information to come forward.
As the search for Mr Robertson’s killer continues, police are examining CCTV footage from premises around the workshop to identify any vehicles or individuals that may be connected to the crime. The site itself is also being thoroughly searched, with police working to establish why Mr Robertson was at the location.
“We are working through why Chris was at this location — we can’t confirm yet what Chris’s connection is,” Detective Superintendent Fielke said. “This premises has been locked down for the last couple of days while we’ve gone through … preliminary processes.”
Mr Robertson’s family has been left shattered by his tragic death, with police saying his murder has “shattered many families”. Detective Superintendent Fielke urged anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers immediately, saying “we have no information any weapons were used” in the attack.
