In a shocking display of cruelty, a group of teenagers callously kicked a defenceless dog to death in broad daylight outside a shopping centre in Newcastle West.
Sasha, a nine-year-old Rottweiler, was tied to a tree outside Marketown shopping centre on Steel St when the senseless attack occurred around midday on Friday. Her owner, who had stopped to run errands, returned just 15 minutes later to find Sasha with life-threatening injuries.
“We are desperately seeking witnesses,” the owner’s family pleaded on social media. “Help us find justice for Sasha.”
Sasha was rushed to a vet, but her injuries were too severe, and she had to be euthanised. The news has left the community reeling in horror, with many calling for the perpetrators to be brought to justice.
Police established a crime scene and launched an investigation on Sunday, appealing for anyone with information to come forward. “It is believed the dog was assaulted by a group of people while it was tied to the tree,” police said in a statement.
The incident has sparked outrage, with many expressing their disgust and sadness on social media. The owner’s family is now urging anyone with information to speak up and help bring the heartless thugs to justice.
