Dolly Parton’s sister Freida has made a emotional appeal to fans to pray for the beloved country singer, who is battling mystery health issues. The 79-year-old music legend recently postponed her sold-out Las Vegas concerts due to unspecified ‘health challenges’ and upcoming medical procedures.
Freida took to Facebook to address her sister’s health concerns, saying: “Last night, I was up all night praying for my sister, Dolly. Many of you know she hasn’t been feeling her best lately. I truly believe in the power of prayer, and I have been led to ask all of the world that loves her to be prayer warriors and pray with me.”
Dolly Parton had been set to perform six nights of sold-out shows in December at Caesars Palace, but scrapped those dates due to her current health. She told her millions of followers that she’s not ending her glittering career just yet, but needs to ‘slow down’ for now.
“Don’t worry about me quittin’ the business because God hasn’t said anything about stopping yet,” she said. “But I believe he is telling me to slow down right now so I can be ready for more big adventures with all of you.”
Dolly Parton is due to receive an honorary Oscar next month, but it’s unclear if she’ll be able to attend the ceremony. Her sister Freida ended her plea for prayers on a positive note, saying: “She’s strong, she’s loved, and with all the prayers being lifted for her, I know in my heart she’s going to be just fine. Godspeed, my sissy Dolly. We all love you!”
