Toddler’s Mysterious Death Rocks Queensland Community: Cops Uncover ‘Inconsistencies’ in Witness Statements One Year On
- 16-month-old boy died in hospital eight days after being found critical at Burpengary home
- “New information” has come to light, but police refuse to reveal details
- Investigators now appealing for anyone with information to come forward as they probe “suspicious activity” surrounding toddler’s death
Heartbroken detectives investigating the suspicious death of a 16-month-old boy in Burpengary, north of Brisbane, have made a shocking revelation – they’ve uncovered “inconsistencies” in witness statements one year on from the tragedy.
In a chilling development, police have confirmed that emergency services were called to a Burpengary address on December 30, 2021, to conduct a medical welfare check, only to find the toddler in a critical condition. Tragically, he succumbed to his injuries eight days later in hospital.
The Queensland Police Service (QPS) launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the child’s death, with the Pine Rivers Child Protection Investigation Unit and the Homicide Investigation Unit working together to get to the bottom of the tragedy.
But now, in a stunning twist, police have revealed that “new information” has come to light – although they’re refusing to reveal what that is – and they’re appealing for anyone who may have witnessed suspicious activity or concerning behaviour involving a child in the lead-up to December 30, 2021, to come forward.
“Ongoing investigations have identified a number of inconsistencies from information initially provided,” a QPS spokesperson said in a statement. “We urge anyone with information to come forward and assist us in getting justice for this young victim.”
As the investigation continues, the community is left reeling, wondering what really happened to the innocent toddler and who may be responsible for his tragic death.
