In a heart-wrenching scene, police were called to Burnside Road shortly after 5am AEST following reports of a traffic crash. A witness, who was in the right place at the right time, sprang into action and assisted a 22-year-old woman and her three-year-old boy who were in the car, rushing them to Beenleigh Police Station.
Tragically, the three-year-old boy became unresponsive and died in the station foyer, leaving his family and the community in shock. The toddler’s mother was left reeling, struggling to come to terms with the devastating loss of her young son.
Meanwhile, a 24-year-old man from Beenleigh, who was believed to have been in the car at the time of the crash, fled the scene with a one-year-old boy before police arrived. However, he was later tracked down by authorities at an address in Beenleigh around 6.30am. The critically injured one-year-old was rushed to hospital for treatment, leaving the community praying for a miracle recovery.
The man is currently assisting police with their enquiries, as they work to piece together the circumstances surrounding the tragic crash. A crime scene has been established, and authorities have reassured the public that there is no threat to the community.
