In a heart-stopping incident, three pedestrians were left fighting for their lives after a horror car crash in Sydney’s west. The victims, aged in their 20s and 30s, were struck by two cars that collided at a pedestrian crossing in Blacktown on Thursday morning.
Emergency services were called to the intersection of Lock St and Panorama Parade just after 9am, following reports of a collision. Footage from the scene showed the men being flung several metres into a storefront, leaving them with critical injuries.
Paramedics treated the men at the scene, with one suffering “serious” head injuries. The other two victims sustained leg injuries in the crash. All three were rushed to Westmead hospital, where they remain in a critical condition.
Police have established a crime scene at the intersection, with officers from the Crash Investigation Unit attending the scene. The drivers of the two cars, a white Toyota Corolla and a maroon Honda CRV, have been taken to Blacktown Hospital for mandatory testing.
Images from the scene showed the Corolla had flipped onto its side, appearing to have hit a nearby tree with enough force to split it. The CRV was stationary in the intersection, surrounded by broken glass, with sawdust soaking up an oil spill on the ground.
Commuters have been urged to avoid the scene, with Bungaribee Road currently closed in both directions. Anyone with information or dashcam footage relating to the crash has been urged to contact police.
