In a dramatic operation, detectives descended upon a property in Dublin, Adelaide’s north, on Tuesday, uncovering a shocking cache of weapons, drugs, and explosive detonators that has left the community reeling.
At the centre of the investigation is a 37-year-old local man, who has been arrested and charged with a string of offences, including possessing firearms without a licence, unregistered firearms, prohibited weapons, and trafficking in a commercial quantity of a controlled drug.
As police searched the property, they allegedly found a deadly arsenal of weapons, including a slug gun, a gel blaster, a small air handgun, a crossbow, swords, and knives. But it was the discovery of explosive detonators that raised the stakes, with bomb technicians called to the scene to safely secure the devices.
In a stark reminder of the dangers posed by the illegal weapons trade, the seized items have sent shockwaves through the community, with many left wondering how such a cache of deadly items could have been amassed in a residential area.
The accused is set to face the Elizabeth Magistrates Court on Wednesday, refused police bail as the investigation continues.
