In a Christmas Eve horror, a young father’s life was tragically cut short in a brutal stabbing attack just metres from where his eight-week-old baby lay sleeping. The 30-year-old man was found clinging to life with fatal stab wounds in the car park of a shopping complex in the Perth suburb of Aubin Grove.
Local resident Brenton, who wished to remain anonymous, described the terrifying moments he heard the attack unfold. “I was just watching YouTube on my phone when I heard weird knocking and thudding sounds on the street,” he said. “I looked out the window and I just saw all the detectives, all the cars out the front, and found out someone lost their life. It was pretty scary. Happened 30 metres away from the room where I’ve got my little eight-week-old baby.”
Forensic officers spent hours combing the crime scene, scouring the car park and surrounding streets for clues. The usually quiet suburb was left reeling in shock, with residents describing the area as “a nice little pocket of heaven” that had been shattered by the brutal attack.
Police are now on the hunt for suspects, with reports of men fleeing the scene in a vehicle. Detectives have been door-knocking in the neighbourhood, appealing for anyone with information or mobile phone, dash-cam or CCTV footage to come forward. The homicide squad is investigating, and a sense of unease has settled over the community.
In a stark reminder of the brutality of the attack, Brenton reflected on the events of the night, saying, “It’s [usually] a nice little pocket of heaven.
