In a dramatic and chaotic scene, a bus has crashed into a Sydney medical centre, leaving three people hospitalised and thirty others evacuated from the building. The shocking incident occurred just after 9am on Lane Cove Rd at North Ryde, when the bus and a car collided at the corner of Epping Rd.
Witnesses described the moment of impact, saying the bus windscreen was crushed against the awning of a physio and chiropractic business within the facility. Fortunately, Fire and Rescue NSW confirmed that no one was trapped in the bus.
The driver of the car, the bus driver, and one bus passenger were rushed to the Royal North Shore Hospital in stable conditions. Six other passengers were assessed by paramedics but chose not to go to hospital, according to NSW Ambulance.
In the aftermath of the crash, emergency services were quick to respond, evacuating thirty people from the medical centre as a precaution. Investigations into the cause of the crash are ongoing, with authorities working to determine the circumstances surrounding the collision.
As the investigation unfolds, the community is left reeling from the shocking incident. “It was just a normal morning, and then suddenly there was a loud crash and people were screaming,” said one eyewitness. “It was terrifying to see the bus careen into the medical centre like that.”
