A disturbing scene unfolded in Sydney’s west on Monday morning when a 52-year-old man was left fighting for his life after suffering a medical episode during a dramatic arrest.
Emergency services were called to a home on Nipper St in Homebush about 8.30am following reports of an alleged domestic violence incident. Police officers gained entry into a nearby unit block and apprehended the man, using OC spray in the process.
In a shocking turn of events, the man then suffered a medical episode and was treated by paramedics before being rushed to Westmead Hospital in a critical condition. The incident has sent shockwaves through the community, with neighbours left stunned by the dramatic events that unfolded.
NSW Police have launched an investigation into the initial incident, which will be subject to an independent review by the Professional Standards Command and oversight by the Law Enforcement Conduct Commission. “The investigation will examine all circumstances surrounding the incident,” a police spokesperson said.
As the man fights for his life in hospital, police are urging anyone with information to come forward. “We are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has information to contact Crime Stoppers,” the spokesperson added.
