Radio Rivals at War: Ben and Liam’s Shocking Ban from Going Live on New Show
- Popular radio duo Ben Harvey and Liam Stapleton have been sensationally banned from launching their new breakfast show on KIIS FM Adelaide later this month.
- Nova is enforcing a non-compete clause, forcing the pair to wait until April 1 to start broadcasting, sparking a heated radio rivalry.
- The move has left fans reeling, with many taking to social media to express their outrage and disappointment at the delay.
In a stunning twist, Ben and Liam’s highly anticipated new show on KIIS FM Adelaide has been put on ice, with the duo forbidden from going live until April 1. The bombshell news has sent shockwaves through the radio industry, with insiders revealing that Nova is enforcing a non-compete clause in the hosts’ contracts.
The clause, which was reportedly included in Ben and Liam’s contracts when they signed with Nova, prohibits them from working with a rival radio network for a certain period of time. The move has been seen as a deliberate attempt to sabotage the pair’s chances of success on their new show.
Ben and Liam were expected to launch their new show later this month, but the non-compete clause has forced them to delay their start date. The pair had been hosting a national radio show on Nova called Late Drive with Ben, Liam & Belle, but were told in September that their contracts would not be renewed for 2026.
In a statement, an ARN spokesperson revealed that Ben and Liam’s official start date was always April 1, and that the network was excited for them to join the all-new KIIS1023, which launches on January 19. However, insiders have suggested that Bec Morse, who has been filling in as the breakfast host over the summer holidays, may be asked to stick around for a few extra months to keep the seat warm for Ben and Liam.
When Ben and Liam do finally begin on air in April, they’ll face an uphill battle to defeat Triple M Breakfast with Roo, Ditts & Loz, which is currently miles ahead of its nearest rivals in the FM radio ratings. The pair are no strangers to Adelaide radio, having started their career on community radio in the City of Churches and later hosting the breakfast show on Nova Adelaide from 2020 to 2022.
