A mother and daughter died after a stabbing incident in Melbourne’s northeast, which led to a police shooting.
The incident occurred at a house in Kett Street, which was reported after a woman reportedly tried to set ablaze another individual.
When police arrived, they were confronted by a woman who was reportedly attacking her mother.
According to Scott Colson, the officers had no choice but to shoot the woman.
According to Colson, the police tried to convince the daughter to put down the knife, but she kept attacking her mother and the other people at the house. The law enforcers had no choice but to shoot the woman.
Scott Colson, the acting superintendent of the police force, said that the officers were faced with a tragic and challenging situation, and they had acted properly in accordance with their training. Unfortunately, both the mother and her daughter died due to the single shot that was fired by the police. The daughter, who was reportedly 26 years old, was also killed.
The paramedics tried to save the mother, who was in her 50s, but she died at the scene due to her injuries. The police stated that they did not look for anyone else in connection with the incident. Homicide detectives will handle the investigation, and they follow the standard procedure when law enforcers use their weapon.
According to the police, the woman who was allegedly involved in the stabbing had been on bail for a different matter when the incident occurred. The responding officers will take time off from their duties to deal with the tragic incident.
