A perfume that retails for $14 at Chemist Warehouse and Big W was compared to a designer item that costs up to $1,000.
Kara Hansen was browsing through perfume websites when she came across an ad for Red Baccara by Designer Brands.
The bottle looked very similar to another perfume brand she knew, which was known as the Baccarat Rouge 540 by Kurkdjian.
A 35 ml bottle of this perfume, which is commonly sold at Mecca, costs $244. For a 70 ml bottle, you’ll pay $399, while a 200 ml bottle costs around $1085.
During a recent TikTok session, the influencer claimed that this product is a dupe for the famous Baccarat Rouge.
When she went to Big W to purchase the perfume, which the store claims is inspired by a Kurkdjian item, Kara was surprised by its size.
She said she expected a small bottle, but the one she received was surprisingly large.
Although she was hesitant to comment on whether or not this perfume would compete with the Baccarat Rouge, she said that it was good.
A spokesperson for Big W noted that the company is happy to see that its customers are finding great value products.
