A man was charged after leaving his 13-month-old child inside a vehicle for over 40 minutes on the Central Coast of NSW on Sunday.
Emergency Services were called to the area after the child was discovered in the vehicle’s seat.
According to the police, the child had been left inside the vehicle for around 40 minutes while the father was inside a Toukley aquatic center.
When officers arrived, they found the vehicle’s front passenger window ajar. They also noticed that the engine was not running.
The temperature outside the vehicle reached 28 degrees Celsius. The child was sweating but did not suffer any injuries as paramedics attended the scene.
The man, who was later contacted by the police, was issued with a court attendance notice for causing emotional distress by leaving his child in the vehicle.
The man is scheduled to appear in the Wyong Local Court next month. The incident was reported to the local community services after NSW Police reminded members of the public about the dangers of leaving children in cars.
