Bus driver Brett Button, who is accused of causing the tragic accident that claimed the lives of 10 individuals in NSW’ Hunter Valley, spoke out about the incident for the first time.

Button faced a local court in Newcastle and faced almost 90 charges.

In a statement released by his lawyer Chris O’Brien, Button said that he has not been able to completely put the incident behind him.

He also expressed his condolences to the families of those who died and the emergency services personnel who responded to the scene.

Button expressed his sorrow and said he was deeply sorry for the incident. The police claim that he was driving the bus that caused the fatal accident on June 3, 2023, which happened as it was transporting wedding guests.

Following the tragic incident, which also claimed the lives of Lynan and Andrew Scott, their families held a series of memorial services.

Other victims included Kyah McBride and her mother Nadene, as well as her boyfriend Kane Symons. The couple who lost their wedding guests, Madeleine Edsell and Mitchell Gaffney, have not commented on the incident.

In June, the couple released a statement and thanked the community for its support. However, they did not speak to the media during the course of their grief.
