A mystery 80cm-tall shopping bag-shaped object that was spotted on a mountain in Australia has caused confusion.
A wildlife enthusiast from Brisbane took the photo and posted it on social media, but he was not sure what it was.
The user posted a message to the public asking for help identifying the object, which he claimed was a “drop bear egg.”
It was spotted in Mount Coot-tha, which is west of Brisbane’s CBD. Commenting on the strange-looking object, the user wrote that it was spotted around 30 meters up a tree.
The poster initially thought it was a bag, but he now believes it’s a drop bear egg. Over the past couple of days, many people shared their thoughts on the mysterious object. An entomologist from Sydney University, Dr. Tom White, said that the object was a drop bear egg:)
According to White, the object is a paper wasp nest, and it’s very healthy-looking.
Australians shared their experiences with these types of nests. One person noted that they usually build vertical strips around each other. However, after going through Google, I realized that these nests look very different.
One person noted that it’s getting close to the start of the nesting season for wasp nests. Another said that the object resembles a paper wasp nest.
