Last year, 82-year-old businessman John Singleton and Sarah Warry, 44, got married.
He told the Sunday Telegraph that everyone was right, and that it was not the first time that he had made a mistake, though he added that he had no regrets.
When he was a mail boy in Sydney in 1958, John Singleton quickly rose through the industry after working for J. Walter Thompson.
He then launched two agencies and worked on the campaigns of Bob Hawke, who was the Prime Minister at that time.
In an interview with The Tele, he said that Warry was the woman he shared sunsets with, but he added that there were only so many sunsets that he could enjoy.
He said that although he and Warry were both lovely, he eventually became bored of looking at sunsets.
He added that staying married would not be beneficial if he and his wife were not happy.
He said that couples would relate to living together as they would eventually realize that they have different lifestyles.
According to him, about half of his associates and friends who have been married for over 50 years will get divorced or remarry.
He noted that those who stay married tend to play around and lose interest in their relationship.
