An 8-year-old girl died after she got sucked into a hotel’s pool pipe. Her family then filed a lawsuit against the hotel chain.
Aliyah was reported missing after she disappeared during a family pool day at the hotel.
The incident occurred at the establishment’s “lazy river” pool.
According to Richard Nava, the lawyer for Aliyah’s family, the hotel had numerous violations, and the pool was in poor condition.
Authorities have stated that Aliyah got sucked into the pool’s malfunctioning equipment.
Nava also noted that the pool’s back flow and equipment had problems.
According to Nava, Aliyah was about 20 feet away from the pipe when she got sucked in.
The pipe was about 30-45cm wide.
He said the girl’s body was contorted when the pipe was cut, and the police investigation revealed that the hotel’s pool had numerous violations.
The authorities had to use various methods to search for Aliyah, such as draining the pool and deploying cameras inside its pipes.
Her body was recovered after 13 hours.
Nava said that Aliya was an avid swimmer, and her funeral will be conducted in a public manner.
The girl’s family’s lawyers are also trying to secure a restraining order against the hotel so they can inspect surveillance footage.
