A woman who claimed to be the uncle of a deceased man was apprehended by the police in Brazil after she tried to withdraw a large sum of money from a bank.
The footage of the incident, which was captured by a bank’s surveillance camera, has caused a wide-spread discussion on social media in the country.
In the video, the woman can be seen propping up the man’s head while he tries to write.
The police stated that the woman was trying to take out a loan of about A$4,600, which was approved by the bank.
However, the man in the video, who was reportedly an elderly individual, remained unresponsive. As the woman talked to him, his head kept falling back.
The woman then asked the man if he was listening. She told him that he had to sign the loan agreement, as it would be his responsibility to do so.
She continued to tell him that he should do so so so that he could avoid headaches, which would result in him going to the registry office.
A bank attendant then said that the man might be sick.
Rio de Janeiro’s police chief said that the bank employees called the emergency services to inform them about the man’s condition.
Responding paramedics then concluded that the man died a couple of hours before he was found at the bank. The police are still trying to determine the man’s relationship with the woman who made the loan request.
According to the woman, who was apprehended by the police, the man was her uncle.
However, according to CNN Brazil, the man’s family’s lawyer stated that the police’s account was incorrect.
He said that the man was alive when he was found, and that the woman was in a state of shock and was taking medication.
