Following its release in the US, Rebel Wilson’s memoir “Rebel Rising” has been released in the UK.
The book features redacted excerpts about her time working with comedian and actor, Baron Cohen.
According to Harper Collins, the company decided to redact some of the book’s pages due to legal issues.
Some of the passages that were redacted are a small part of a larger story.
According to the note, the reason for the redaction was due to the law in Wales and England. Wilson referred to an alleged asshole in her memoir last month. She then revealed that Baron Cohen was the person behind the plot to prevent her from publishing the book.
In one chapter, Wilson talks about Baron Cohen’s alleged behavior during the making of “The Brothers Grimsby.”
In response to Wilson’s claims, Baron Cohen released a statement saying that the allegations are false.
He noted that the claims are contradicted by numerous documents and eyewitness accounts.
Following the release of the redacted chapter in the UK, his spokesperson stated that Harper Collins did not check the chapter before publishing it and then took the appropriate steps to remove the defamatory statements.
The statement went on to say that printing false information is illegal in Australia and the UK.
It is a legal principle that has been around for hundreds of years. This is a clear victory for Baron Cohen, as it confirms what he has been saying all along.
The entire chapter about him has been redacted in both New Zealand and Australia. This makes the release of the censored version of the book the most censored of any.
