A baby boy died after his mother was killed in a car crash that occurred north of Brisbane on Friday afternoon.
The woman, who was 33 years old at the time of the incident, was killed when her vehicle hit a tree on the Caboolture River Road at Upper Caboolture.
Her three-month-old child was taken to the hospital, but he died on Sunday afternoon.
According to Greg Price, a forensic crash unit officer, the child was in a baby seat when the accident occurred.
He said that the unit was looking into the actions of the car’s driver before the crash.
Price also confirmed that the child’s father was with him when he was taken to hospital.
He said that speed was one of the factors that the investigators were looking into, but he was unable to provide further details.
The incident has reportedly affected the local community and the family.
Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to contact the police.
