Last week, Prince William and Princess Kate apologized for their absence from a Trooping the Colour rehearsal, which was held on June 8.
As the Irish Guards’ Honorary Colonel, the royal couple usually presides over the Colonel’s Review, which is conducted before the official birthday of the Queen.
However, due to her ongoing battle with cancer, Kate was not able to attend the event.
Instead, the role was handled by Lt. General James Bucknall.
Since she revealed in March that she was diagnosed with cancer, Kate has kept a low-profile.
To show her appreciation for the Irish Guards, she sent a letter to the regiment.
In it, she expressed her pride in the unit ahead of the Trooping the Colour and the Colonel’s Review.
In her letter, Kate expressed her gratitude for all the hard work the Irish Guards members have put in to prepare for the event.
She also noted that being an honorary colonel is a great honor. Unfortunately, she was unable to attend the event due to her ongoing illness.
Kate expressed her regret for her absence from the rehearsal and wished the Irish Guards members a happy and healthy life.
She also thanked them for their efforts and said she would be back to represent them once more.
The Irish Guards posted a message about their appreciation for the princess on their Facebook page.
In response to the princess’ illness, the Irish Guards wished her a full recovery.
It was reported in May that Kate would not be able to attend the rehearsal. It’s not yet clear if she will be able to attend the event on June 15.
Since December 25, Kate has been out of the public eye. She joined the other members of her family for a Christmas service at Sandringham.
In response to a query from Us Weekly, Kensington Palace provided an update regarding Kate’s condition and her return to work.
The spokesperson said that Kate needs time to recover and that she would be back at work once doctors have given her the go signal.
An individual close to Kate noted that there is no update regarding her return to work as she is focused on recovering fully.
The speculation about her absence from the job is untrue, and she will return to work when the time is right.
