According to the mother of the man who died in a car crash in Western Australia’s Kimberley region, her last conversation with him was about their last moments.
Rhys Dwyer, who was from Perth and also known as Freddy James on Instagram, was driving a Toyota LandCruiser when the vehicle crashed witha a cattle on the Great Northern Hwy near Mueller Ranges at around 6 am.
He was badly injured and died at the scene.
The police then knocked on the door and told the family that their loved one had died.
Allison Walker, who was a friend of Dwyer’s, said she still can’t believe what has happened to him.
He was on his way to Broome, which was midway through a trip that involved traveling across the state and even stopping in the Northern Territory.
The tragic incident occurred just a couple of days after she had urged him to drive safely.
According to Walker, Dwyer loved cars and traveling. He also had a passion for his three-year-old German rottweiler named Koa.
Pictures of him and his son at the beach were his life’s best moments. He was a kind and generous person who would do anything for others.
Dwyer was known to go beyond for anyone that needed him. His friends and family will hold a funeral service for him in Joondalup this Friday.
His mother said the service will be the hardest part of her life. She said the family has been overwhelmed by the support they have received from the community.
On a GoFundMe page set up to help the family, his friends and family described him as an incredibly kind and loving person.
A post shared on social media by someone who knew Dwyer just hours before the tragic incident stated that he would be missed.
The message said that his mate did more country miles than most people, and that it could happen to anyone.
Major Crash investigators are also appealing for witnesses to come forward.
