According to Andy Lee, he and his friend Hamish Blake were banned from the village at the London Olympics for life.
The comedian revealed this during an interview on Triple M’s The Rush Hour. He said that they were told not to talk about it, but he kept his mouth open as he threw caution to the wind.
The pair were banned from entering the Olympic facilities after an incident during the 2012 games.
To enter the Olympic Village, applicants had to fill out various security and application forms.
A person who filled out the forms mistakenly listed Andy’s birth date as April 6, 2012. The authorities, however, did not let him enter the facility on the day of his speech.
An Australian quick-thinking individual then came to Andy’s rescue. He said that an individual from the team offered to transport his clothes.
Andy said that he and his friend snuck into the village through an individual’s pass, which was a major breach of security.
They were able to mingle with the other athletes after delivering their speech. However, about 90 minutes later, security personnel noticed that they were being tricked.
Andy said that they were placed in separate rooms and interrogated by the security personnel.
The head of security, who was an Australian, eventually understood their explanation.
The Australian team was then punished for Andy and his friend’s actions. Some of their visas were also revoked.
The International Olympic Committee (IOC) told the Australian larrikins that they were not welcome back to the village.
Andy said that they agreed to be banned from entering for life.
