The boxer, who was only 25 years old at the time, was subjected to online harassment after her match against Angela Carini of Italy at the Olympic Games.
Even though she had been called a biological male, Khelif was still able to win the gold medal.
After winning the gold medal, Khelif took legal action and filed a complaint against the individuals who harassed her.
Among the individuals she mentioned were Elon Musk, the founder of Tesla, and JK Rowling, a British author.
According to Reuters, the athlete stated that she wanted to change the people’s minds after filing the lawsuit.
According to her lawyer, Khelif decided to fight for her dignity and rights.
He stated that the investigation will focus on the individuals who carried out the campaign of racial and misogynistic abuse online.
In a video showing the boxer, she can be seen wearing a make-up look while her gold medal is displayed on her neck.
She was wearing an Algerian caftan with a sparkling white smile. Her floral-hoop earrings complimented her outfit.
