The airline confirmed that a passenger opened the plane’s emergency exit door upon reaching Melbourne.

The incident occurred when the aircraft was parked at the boarding gate.

It is not clear why the man decided to jump out of the plane.

However, photos show him holding one of the plane”s engines as he made his way toward the tarmac.

The airport’s ground staff was able to restrain the man before the police arrived.

The staff’s quick response was commended by the airport.

A spokesperson for the airport noted that the actions of the ground staff prevented other passengers and airport employees from being endangered.

Sky News host Kieran Gilbert said that the passengers were trying to convince the man to sit down.
