The nine-month old baby who was allegedly attacked by a man who poured hot coffee over him in a public park in Brisbane, has reportedly emerged from his second operation.
The incident occurred at around noon on Tuesday.
The child, named Luka, was with his mother at Hanlon Park when the man allegedly approached them and poured coffee over him.
The baby suffered severe burns during the incident. He underwent several operations on Friday, including one that will determine if he requires a skin graft.
According to his mother, on Instagram, it looked like the burns on his chest and neck were going to scar.
A second surgery will be carried out on Tuesday, September 3.
The mother said that she was not expecting the news about her son’s condition.
However, she was glad to see that most of his body, including his arms, legs, and face, were recovering well.
In another post, the woman said that she had been struggling to cope with the incident.
She added that she had been continuously triggered by the pain and crying of her son.
The woman, who is the mother of the child, thanked her partner for their support, but she stated that she was struggling to support her son due to the incident.
The police have also released a composite image of the man they want to speak to.
He is described as being of a proportionate build and wearing black hat, sunglasses, and shorts.
The incident, which took place during the week, was described by police as an ambush.
Premier Steven Miles noted that the child was doing well and that the authorities were working on apprehending the suspect.
A fund set up on the crowdfunding site Gofundme to help the family with the child’s medical costs has already raised almost $100,000.
Many of the supporters who contributed to the fund were individuals and businesses.
They described the incident as horrifying and said Luka was an innocent child.
