A woman appeared in a Sydney court on Saturday charged with killing her two sons in the Blue Mountains.

The 42-year old woman did not apply for bail and was remanded in custody after the brief hearing.

She was charged with two counts of murder following the bodies of her sons, aged nine and 11, were found at their home in Faulconbridge.

After receiving a call about a woman and two kids, emergency services were sent to the house.

The boys’ father then found their bodies.

The mother was also taken to a hospital after suffering stab wounds.

The woman was released from the hospital on Friday and was taken to the police station.

She was charged on Saturday. Her lawyer said that the family members were struggling to cope with the incident.

He urged the public to respect the privacy of the victims.

This week, the father of the children released a statement and asked for privacy as he tried to cope with the tragic incident.

He said that the loss of his sons had caused him immense pain and distress.

The boys, who were reportedly outgoing and happy, were loved by their friends and family.

Magistrate Michael Stoddart ordered the mother to remain in custody until her next court appearance on November 8.
