Steven King, the assistant coach of the Geelong Cats, collapsed during a training session on Friday.
He was reportedly talking to Jeremy Cameron, the club’s leading goalkicker, when he suddenly fell to the ground.
He was immediately attended to by the club’s medical staff before being taken to Epworth Hospital.
According to Channel 7’s Mitch Cleary, Cameron was visibly shaken by the incident.
King reportedly fell during the training session at GMHBA Stadium.
A press conference for the club’s coach, Chris Scott, was delayed by about 20 minutes as the players were evacuated from the track.
King was reportedly expected to be okay. The club stated that he would remain under observation and that they were trying to do everything they could to support him.
At a press conference, Scott refused to provide more details about King’s condition.
King was a captain of the Geelong Cats during his playing days.
He was also a part of the team that won the 2007 premiership.
He is a leading candidate to become the next coach of the West Coast Eagles.
