In preparation for a rare September downpour, most Australians are required to pack their umbrellas and raincoats.
The BOM forecasts that rain will fall in various parts of the country over the next couple of days.
On Wednesday, thunderstorms are expected to develop over the eastern and north-eastern regions of the North Interior. These areas will also be affected by showers.
On Thursday, the possibility of thunderstorms will occur over the Gascoyne, inland areas of the South West Land, and the Kimberley.
In Western Australia, showers are likely to occur in most of the state on Friday, with the possibility of thunderstorms in some areas.
The Northern Territory has also experienced heavy rainfall this week. The Carpentaria District is expected to get the only break from rain on Wednesday.
There’s a high chance of thunderstorms and showers over the southern part of Daly Waters. The possibility of severe thunderstorms will also develop over the Northern Territory on Thursday.
It’s expected to clear by Friday. In South Australia, moist conditions have already affected the region. More rain is expected to fall in the next couple of days.
Areas in the north are expected to receive showers on Wednesday. The rain is expected to start to subside on Thursday, with isolated showers likely in some parts of the state before a dry day is provided on Friday.
Unfortunately, this weather pattern could change once more, with another band of showers or thunderstorms moving across South Australia over the weekend.
In southwest Queensland, Wednesday will bring scattered showers and thunderstorms. Some of these may occur over the far southwest corner of the state, including the town of Ayr.
On Thursday, scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected to affect the central, southern, and western parts of the state. Some of these may occur over the east coast near Townsville.
There’s a chance of thunderstorms near Goondiwindi. Friday will bring showers and thunderstorms to most of the state, including Brisbane.
In NSW, after a dry start to the week, scattered showers are expected to occur across the central, western, and southern regions of the state on Wednesday.
The wet weather is expected to continue throughout Thursday. As a result, widespread showers are likely to affect the eastern and western regions of NSW on Thursday.
Friday will bring more rain to the state’s northeast, with possible heavy downpours over the Mid North Coast. In addition, scattered showers are predicted for the western, central, and southern regions of NSW.
In the ACT, there’s a high likelihood of rain on Wednesday and Thursday.
However, by Friday, it’s expected to become drier with a medium chance of rain. In Victoria, the weather will turn winter-like on Wednesday, with scattered showers and rain hitting the Melbourne region.
In the east and north, showers will continue to affect the region on Thursday. On Friday, it will be mostly dry across the state.
In Tasmania, showers are expected to occur on Wednesday, with the possibility of small hail in the west and south. These may affect areas such as Hobart.
Areas in the south and west are likely to receive showers on Thursday. The fine weather conditions will then spread across the whole of the state on Friday.
