The police have identified the man who they believe poured hot coffee on a baby boy in a southeast Brisbane park in August.
The nine-month-old child, named Luka, was with his mother at Hanlon Park when the incident occurred.
The man was seen pouring the coffee over the child before running away.
The child, who is now ten months old, underwent multiple medical procedures after suffering severe burns to his arms, face, and upper body.
A warrant has been issued for the arrest of the suspect, who is believed to be a Chinese national. He fled the country after the incident.
After the suspect’s name was publicized by Chinese media, a high-ranking police officer in Queensland confirmed that the authorities have identified him.
Chinese media have revealed that he was born in Hangzhou, China.
Andrew Massingham said on Thursday that the law enforcers were committed to finding the person responsible for the attack.
Massingham noted that the law enforcers were still looking for the person responsible for the heinous act.
He also told a local radio station that the child would require extensive medical treatment for the injuries he suffered.
A spokesperson for the Queensland Police would not provide additional details about the investigation. They urged the media to refrain from publishing details related to the case, as it could compromise the investigation.
The parents of Luka, who are still refusing to reveal their identities, want the public to know more about the investigation and the suspect.
According to the father, they need assurance that the person responsible will be caught.
Shane Chelepy, the acting commissioner of the Queensland Police, said the authorities decided to release limited information to protect the privacy of the victim and his family.
