A baby boy was killed by a pack of pit bulls early Monday in a home in the US after his babysitter left him there with her 13-year-old daughter.
The babysitter, identified as 36-year-old Heather Rodriguez, was reportedly accompanied by three dogs at the time of the incident.
According to reports, one of the pit bulls broke through the bedroom door and attacked the baby while his 13-year-old babysitter was trying to protect him.
The other two dogs then joined in and tried to snatch the baby away from the girl.
According to witness Joe Salazar, the incident was described as a tug-of-war between the child and one of the pit bulls.
The girl tried to save the baby by taking him to the bathroom.
However, the pit bulls were still able to get in. To call the police, the teenager barricaded the bedroom door with her body.
Pictures taken by her showed how the animals had taken out large pieces of the door.
The child, named Jiryiah, suffered multiple bite wounds.
He was immediately rushed to a hospital after he was bitten on the face and neck.
The teenager who was supposed to be the babysitter was considered a hero by Salazar.
