The bodies of a baby and a mother koala were discovered in Redbank Plains, south-west of Brisbane.
Animal protection groups are asking for people’s help after the two were reportedly hit by a car on Tuesday morning.
The IKPS said the deaths of the koalas were a timely reminder of how important it is to keep our environment clean.

The organization, which rehabilitates and raises orphaned animals, noted that although there were a healthy number of these in Ipswich, the animals had been declared endangered in 2022.
The IKPS has posted a message to the public urging people to help the animals by donating to the organization.
Many of the people who responded to the post said they were disgusted by the incident and believed that the animals were endangered. One person stated that the deaths had broken their heart.
One person stated that it was heartbreaking to see how these animals were being treated. Another said that something had to be done to save the animals.
According to the DESI, koalas are facing various threats in Australia, and habitat loss is one of the biggest factors that has affected them.
In Queensland, much of the habitat of the Koalas overlaps with areas that have been cleared for development.
They noted that after habitat loss, the animals are most vulnerable to being hit by cars.
From 1997 to 2011, data from wildlife hospitals in South East Queensland revealed that almost 300 Koalas were killed by motor vehicles each year.
