After almost 500 days of inactivity due to various injuries, Nick Kyrgios is planning on returning to tennis at the Australian Open.

The former Wimbledon finalist hasn’t played a competitive match since losing to Yibing Wu in June of 2023.

He was supposed to appear at the Australian Open in 2023, but he pulled out due to injury.

Since then, it has been speculated that he would never play competitive tennis again.

But, during a panel discussion at SXSW Sydney, he confirmed that he’s back and spoke about his injury.

According to the surgeon, he probably wouldn’t be able to play tennis again. But, he’s planning on returning to the court and participating in the Australian Open.

Since his injury, he’s worked as a commentator and has started to explore other avenues outside of tennis.

He says it has been a long time since he’s been able to play competitive tennis. But, returning to the court at the Australian Open is something he’s excited about.

He’s also excited to be able to perform in front of his home crowd.

He says his only motivation for coming back is to win a grand Slam. In October, he made a cryptic Instagram post that caught the attention of his fans.

Many of them were asking how long he had left in his career.

In the post, he thanked his fans for their support and said that there were only a few chapters left in his career.
